Q: Why should I rent this home?
A: This Sonoma property is private, centrally located and includes a private cottage in your peak-season rental. Vineyards surround the rear and one side of the property. There is one neighboring residence, which is screened by trees and a privacy fence. Guests return frequently and recommend us to their friends and family.
Q: Where is the home located?
A: Approximately one hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, the home is centrally located in historic Glen Ellen, California, the heart of Sonoma Valley Wine Country. Q: How close are wineries?
A: This property is in “the heart of Sonoma Valley” wine country. In addition to the three neighboring tasting rooms (within easy walking distance), there are over 30 wineries nearby in Glen Ellen and Kenwood as well as numerous others throughout Sonoma and nearby Napa Valley.
Q: Are there events and activities nearby?
A: There are many diverse events and attractions nearby including the International Film Festival, Sonoma Jazz Plus, BR Cohn Charity Concert, Olive Festival, numerous art shows, art galleries, weekly Farmers’ Markets, parades and so much more. Sonoma Valley is home to the Sonoma Art Museum, Sonoma Raceway, the Sonoma Country Club and the Jack London, Sugarloaf Ridge and Annadel State Parks.
Q: If I rent only the main residence, is there someone else staying in the cottage?
A: Whether you rent just the main residence (off-season) or the entire property (peak-season), you will always have the grounds to yourself. Other properties are often described as “private” but many have owners or other guests on the grounds and neighbors in close proximity.
Q: Is the cottage equipped with a full kitchen?
A: The cottage kitchenette includes a bar-sink, microwave, under-counter refrigerator, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, & glassware. A cook top/range is not available in the cottage; however, the main residence has a fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, microwave, and gas range).
Q: Are children allowed?
A: The property is ideal for adults seeking a quiet and relaxing trip to wine country. The pool and hot tub do not include child-safety fencing.
Q. Are pets or service animals allowed?
A: Pets and service animals are not allowed.
Q. Is it OK to host guests or an event like a pool party or wedding?
A: This is not a "party house". Sonoma County prohibits outdoor music, special events, pool parties, weddings or similar activities by guests at any time. Guests shall be respectful of neighbors keeping noise to a minimum at all times. Quiet hours are 10:00PM to 9:00AM.
Q. Does the property have heat and air conditioning?
A: Central heat and ceiling fans are available in the main residence, air conditioning is not. It is generally quite comfortable all year long. The cottage is not winterized-- it features ceiling fans and space heaters.
Q. Do I need to bring my own sheets, towels, toiletries, hairdryer, and iron?
A: A range of beds linens, bath and pool towels are supplied. There are often some basic toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner) on hand but we encourage you to bring your own supplies. A hairdryer, travel-sized iron, and tabletop ironing board are also available.
Q: Are Internet, Television and Sound System available?
A: Wi-Fi Internet is available. A Smart TV is available (cable is not). The Smart TV has built-in Internet connectivity allowing you to access a range of online services including web browsing, social networking, and on-demand video and music. Music is to be played indoors only on the Smart TV or your personal device. Outdoor music is strictly prohibited.
Q. Is there a BBQ grill?
A: Your rental includes use of a propane gas grill.
Q: Does the pool need to be heated to be comfortable for use?
A: The pool is not heated. While it may be a bit chilly initially; many guests find it refreshing in contrast to the warm weather in peak-season. Hot tub heating is included in your rental year-round.
Q: Are there pool rafts and noodles available?
A: There are often some noodles on hand but rafts are not available.
Q: Is there a washer and dryer?
A: Guests renting the cottage are permitted to use sparingly. The property is on a septic system and doing excessive laundry on-site is not allowed.
Q: What safety features are available?
A: The house includes a security alarm system, smoke detector, CO detector, first aid kit, and fire extinguisher. The pool and hot tub do not include child-safety fencing.
Q: Are you flexible on arrival and departure times?
A: Check-in is after 4:00PM and Check-out is promptly by 10:00AM. If you have a request for another time, please let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. If scheduling permits, extended 6:00PM Check-out can be provided for an additional fee.
Q: How do I get the keys?
A: After your reservation is confirmed and payments have been received, you will get some general information about the rental property including directions, key access, etc. This information will be sent to you electronically within 24 hours of your scheduled arrival.
Q: Why does there appear to be so many rules?
A: Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management Department establishes the “rules and performance standards” for all Vacation Rentals. Rules regarding maximum overnight occupancy, number of guests, noise limits, quiet hours, and amplified sound (along with numerous other regulations) are governed by section 26-88-120 of the Sonoma County Zoning Code and must be strictly upheld. These rules are intended to ensure vacation rentals are compatible with and do not adversely impact surrounding residential and agricultural uses.
